Arsenal reached an agreement of £18.5m for Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain
Arsenal have agreed a deal for a rather more plausible target, Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, who has reportedly been on Arsene Wenger's radar for some time.

Various sources state that Arsenal have entered into an agreement of personal terms with Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain.

According to the Spanish website Sport.esArsenal and Real Madrid have reached an agreement of £18.5m for Higuain.

However, the website suggests that the move hinges on Arsenal scraping into the Champions League, and if they fail then Higuain could turn his back on the Gunners and start fluttering his eyelids in the direction of Spurs.
The Argentina striker, who arrived in Spain from River Plate in 2007, has been linked with a move to both Arsenal and Spurs in the past, and appears determined to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season after losing his place in the starting line-up to French international Karim Benzema.
Last week, Real Madrid general manager Jose Angel Sanchez said “In a great club like Real [Madrid],
we believe we need two number nines of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain. Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.” leading to suppositions regarding his future. The deal as of now is what looks like a perfect move for the Bernabéu striker, who will otherwise warm the bench with Real Madrid vying to sign the likes of Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani.
