Roma offer Osvaldo for Gervinho, or take £6.9m

Arsenal have come a step closer to finding a new club for their out of favour forward Gervinho. After reports earlier in the week which said that Arsenal had rejected a £6.2 million bid for the Ivory Coast international from Italian giants Roma, Football Italia reports that Roma are prepared to raise their offer to £6.9 million,
which comes closer to the Gunners’ own £7.7 million valuation.

What tips the scale in Roma’s favour is that their new coach Rudi Garcia had earlier worked together with Gervinho and the pair formed a formidable partnership at Lille, where Gervinho’s performances drew attention from the shores of England.

Roma are also reportedly contemplating adding Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to sweeten the deal aimed at landing Gervinho. Osvaldo is reportedly seeking a new home in England after the Giallorossi fans turned on the Italian international during pre-season training, calling him a “coward” and a “worm”. Osvaldo’s situation is also being monitored closely by both Tottenham and Fulham.
