The National Essay Contest 2013 is now open for registration for Nigerian secondary school
students with a tittle test: “The Internet is a blessing or a curse for the millennial generation? .
The test is designed to support reading and writing culture Nigerian students.
The National Essay Contest 2013 presented by counseling support to young Consult (YSCC),
aims to celebrate and nurture the creativity of young writers in secondary schools across
Nigeria, providing a platform for students to compete with their peers.

The value of the 2013 National Essay Competition for Secondary Schools in Nigeria
The winners of the National Essay Contest 2013 will be awarded the following prizes. Please
note that prizes will be awarded to the winners and the schools attended by the winner.
• 1st prize
All expenses paid tour of top UK universities for the first winner of four more laptops that will
be presented to the computer lab school attended by the winner
• 2nd prize
All expenses paid tour of universities in the United Kingdom for winning 2nd place top 3 most
laptops that will be presented to the computer lab school attended by the winner
• 3rd prize
All expenses paid tour of universities in the United Kingdom for the 3rd place winner top and 2
laptops that will be presented to the computer lab school attended by the winner
• 4th prize
All expenses paid tour of universities in the United Kingdom for the 4th place winner up one
more laptop to be presented to the computer lab at school attended by the winner
• 5th prize
All expenses paid tour of universities in the United Kingdom for the 5th place winner top
Price / Ceremony Awards will take place April 18, 2013 by 10am at: Apa Hall, Eko Hotel &
Suites. Victoria Island, Lagos.
Parents and school administrators are invited to attend the event with winners receiving the
prize will be awarded to the winner’s school.
2013 National Essay Competition for Secondary Schools in Nigeria Eligibility
The participation is free of charge and is open to high school students in Year 11 or 12 (SS2 or
SS3). Each participant may submit only one essay.
• All entries must be original works of student essays. Projects may not have been previously
published in professional media.
• To be eligible, entries must be original works in prose, between 1000-2000 words.
How to Apply for the 2013 National Essay Competition for Secondary Schools in
Nigeria
• Entries must be submitted in electronic format as an attachment in a document doublespaced MS Word pages numbered entries@nationalessaycompetition.com Please note that all
other formats will be disqualified.
• Each entry must have a cover page with the author’s name, complete mailing address, phone
number and your e-mail. Each subsequent page must carry the student’s name and the page
number.
• All entries are final. No revisions are accepted.
